HUNTSVILLE LACROSSE ASSOCIATION (HLA) will be incorporated again
into the Greater Birmingham Youth Lacrosse Association’s (GBYLA’s)
youth team scheduling
for the upcoming Spring 2017 season!
 
 
*Current US Lacrosse Membership for the entire season of play
is mandatory for registration with Huntsville Lacrosse Association
and may be obtained during the registration process.  
 
Youth Memberships $30/player
HS Memberships $35/player
 
Spring Registration Fees:
Boys Division:
U9 & U11 - $230.00
U13 & Middle School - $320.00
High School - $250.00
Girls Division:
Youth Grades 1/3, 4/5 & 6/8 - $230.00
High School - $250.00
 
*On December 2nd, registration fees were adjusted to reflect an additional $50 per player for delayed registrations.  This additional fee is waived for all NEW PLAYERS to HLA only.  
This fee will be credited back to you account after your registration has been processed.

There will be a few changes for the upcoming season for some age groups
utilizing new guidelines from US Lacrosse.
 
Affecting U15 Boys age group - Now Boys Middle School 
  • U15 boys division will change its name to "MIDDLE SCHOOL" boys division based on the SCHOOL GRADE of the players and not their age.
  • 9th grade boys, who in the past might have played on a U15 team based on age, MUST play in the Boys High School division (junior varsity or varsity).
  • 8th grade boys will play in the Middle School division.
  • 7th grade boys who qualify by age to play U13 WILL HAVE A CHOICE at the time of registration to play Middle School division or U13 division.  Exception: if the player is 13 years old BEFORE September 1st, 2016, then that player MUST play in the Middle School division.
  • 6th grade boys MAY NOT "play up" to the Middle School division level (unless they exceed the U13 birth date criteria because of an alternate history with prior school grade level decisions.
 
Affecting U9 Boys age group:
  • Play in Spring 2017 for HLA and GBYLA will adhere to the new US Lacrosse guidelines of 4 v 4 play.  This will consist of (3) field players and (1) goalie for each team on the field. This is referred to as “Small-Sided Competition” and its guidelines are designed to foster fun, skills development and competition development.  The US Lacrosse guidelines can be found here   
The new guidelines of play affecting the above age groups will be incorporated in our upcoming Fall Ball season.
 
 
Boys Registration Age/Grade Requirements

for play September 1, 2016 to May 2017:

  Boys U9   September 1, 2007 - August 31, 2009
  Boys U11   September 1, 2005 - August 31, 2007
  Boys U13   September 1, 2003 - August 31, 2005
  Boys Middle School   Grades 7 - 8
  Boys High School   Grades 9 - 12

 

 
Affecting Girls Grades 1-3 age group:
  • Play in Spring 2017 for HLA and GBYLA will adhere to the new US Lacrosse guidelines of 4 v 4 play.  This will consist of (4) field players and NO goalie for each team on the field. This is referred to as “Small-Sided Competition” and its guidelines are designed to foster fun, skills development and competition development.   
Affecting Girls Grades 4-5 age group:
  • Play in Spring 2017 for HLA and GBYLA will adhere to the new US Lacrosse guidelines of 6 v 6 play.  This will consist of (5) field players and  (1) goalie for each team on the field. This is referred to as “Small-Sided Competition” and its guidelines are designed to foster fun, skills development and competition development.  The US Lacrosse guidelines can be found here

For play September 1, 2016 to May 2017:
  
  Girls G13   Grades 1 - 3
  Girls G45   Grades 4 - 5
  Girls G68   Grades 6 - 8

General Information regarding our Spring lacrosse seasons:
Huntsville Lacrosse Association is a volunteer organization run by lacrosse families and lacrosse enthusiasts.  
HLA is not subsidized by any federal, state, or local organizations as a recreational sport
in the manner that municipality-run recreation sports are.  
Huntsville Lacrosse Association provide scholarship opportunieies based on a combination of need and merit
to those players from families that are eligible.  Please visit our scholarship page for additional information.  
 
Huntsville Lacrosse Assocition Registration fees cover the following items:
~ league operation, D&O insurance, league equipment and storage
~ referee game fees
~ background checks for coaches & some assistant coaches
~ purchasing of goals, balls, nets, cones, timing clocks, etc.
~ equipment and paint to line and stripe fields
~ goalie protective equipment for younger youth teams
~ coaching tools for practices
~ coaches' training and studies
~ registration, scheduling and software costs
~ players' game uniform at the youth level
   (high school teams pay for uniforms directly to the individual high school as a separate cost)
~ field usage fees paid to municipal offices or schools for field usage
~ administrative fees related to taxes, accounting, postage, software
~ field maintenance fees for upkeep of private fields that HLA has made agreements for usage
 
Huntsville Lacrosse Association Registration fees DO NOT cover the following items: 
~ Fees do not include tournament fees
~ Fees do not include uniform fees for High School teams
~ Fees do not include individual players equipment
~ Fees do not include US Lacrosse Membership. Current US Lacrosse Membership for the entire season of play is mandatory for registration with        Huntsville Lacrosse Association and may be obtained during the registration process.
 
As projected numbers of registrations are completed, some Divisions may be filled and closed.  If your Division closes, registrants will be placed on a waiting list.  If placed on a waiting list, fees will not be charged unless the registrant is removed from the waiting lsit and placed in a Division.  
 
Currently HLA does NOT have mandatory fundraisers for lacrosse families.
